Orthopaedic Interests

Dr. Trent Wilson is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and minimally invasive joint replacement. He is passionate about helping patients of all ages and activity levels return to the lifestyle they enjoy — from competitive athletes to active adults and weekend warriors.

With advanced fellowship training in sports medicine from the Taos Orthopedic Institute, Dr. Wilson provides specialized expertise in the treatment of shoulder and knee injuries and other activity-related joint conditions. His practice focuses on advanced arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures for sports, overuse, traumatic, and activity-related injuries. He utilizes the latest minimally invasive techniques, advanced technology, and evidence-based treatment and recovery protocols to optimize patient outcomes and accelerate recovery.

In addition to sports medicine and arthroscopy, Dr. Wilson has extensive training and experience in modern joint replacement surgery for patients suffering from arthritis and joint degeneration. He specializes in minimally invasive, tissue-sparing approaches for hip and knee replacement, including anterior total hip arthroplasty, partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, and both standard and reverse shoulder replacement. By incorporating advanced surgical technology, precision techniques, and enhanced recovery protocols, Dr. Wilson helps many patients recover comfortably, regain mobility more quickly, and return to an active lifestyle with confidence. He also has extensive experience with outpatient total joint replacement, allowing many patients to return home the same day as surgery.

Dr. Wilson believes in a comprehensive approach to orthopedic care and recognizes that surgery is not always the best or first option for every patient. As such, he offers a wide range of non-surgical treatment options when appropriate, including biologic therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, physical therapy, bracing, and other modalities designed to support healing, recovery, and long-term function.

Personal

He has been deeply rooted in the community for decades and loves giving back to the community that has given him so much over the years. Dr. Wilson and his family enjoy skiing, traveling and spending time together. They are actively involved in Church of the Highlands where they serve as leaders and mentors.
