Each physician on staff at The Orthopedic Clinic has completed sub-specialty training in surgery techniques. Working as a team they have the knowledge and expertise to provide medical care and treatment as it relates to specific areas of the body including cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine; hand and foot; shoulder and elbow; knee and hip.

Our specialists utilize advanced techniques to repair or replace damaged bone joints, nerves, tendons, and ligaments resulting from disease or injury.

Sports Medicine

Sports medicine is a sub-specialty of orthopaedics, and The Orthopaedic Clinic provides a comprehensive sports medicine program including diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation services. Our Sports Medicine team is providing the most up to date and innovative care including arthroscopic shoulder, knee and hip surgery surgery, minimally invasive ligament reconstruction and cartilage restoration and preservation procedures to keep injured athletes in the game. Our board certified orthopedic surgeons are on call to provide the latest diagnostic, surgical and non-surgical treatments for patients whether you are an elite athlete or a weekend warrior. We proudly are the official sports medicine providers for Auburn High School, Opelika High School and Lee Scott Academy along with nine other local schools, city programs and semi-professional athletic teams.

Neck, Spine, and Back

The spine consists of individual vertebra that form a column which provides protection for the spinal cord and nerves which communicate with muscles and telegraph sensations and messages to the brain. The surgeons who specialize in surgeries to the spine have completed specialized training in surgical procedures to the cervical and lumbar regions for repair and correction of various medical conditions. Their area of specialization enables them to repair or correct medical conditions including degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis and to surgically repair or correct ruptured discs or pinched nerves.

Our spine surgeons perform both “minimally invasive surgery” and “closed” procedures. Some of these procedures require advanced surgical equipment such as specialized operating microscopes that enable the surgeon to magnify areas of repair through a small incision.

Specialists

Hand and Extremities

At The Orthopaedic Clinic, patients are provided surgical and non-surgical treatment of conditions and problems that occur in the hand or upper arm (from the tip of the finger to the shoulder). The Orthopaedic Clinic provides treatment and reconstruction of old injuries, birth defects, nerve compression syndromes such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and damaged or inflamed tendons.

In addition, our specialty-trained hand surgeon is experienced in the latest surgical techniques for repairing nerves, tendons, joints, and bone damage resulting from injury or disease. An example is endoscopic Carpal Tunnel surgery, which is less invasive and less traumatic than traditional surgery. With less post-surgery trauma for the patient, recovery time is usually shortened significantly.

Specialists

Shoulder

The shoulder is classified as a ball and socket joint. It is the most mobile joint in the body, and is also one of the most unstable. The most common surgical procedures performed by our surgeons include repairs to torn muscles and tendons, removal of bone spurs, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder replacement. Arthropscopy is a procedure used to “look” inside the shoulder joint to locate and correct problems. Other surgery techniques include tightening ligaments and repair of torn capsular attachments and prosthetic shoulder replacement. Many of our doctors have specialized training in shoulder surgery and are offering some of the most innovative shoulder treatments in the area.

Specialists

Hip

Hip fractures and joint problems are a serious health problem which require immediate treatment. Our board certified surgeons provide modern treatment and surgery procedures to help patients get back on their feet as soon as possible. In treating fractures our surgeons utilize advanced surgical procedures, fixation devices and surgical screws to repair fractures. They also perform joint repair surgery and total joint replacement using prosthetics.

Specialists

Knee

Knee problems resulting from injury are commonly diagnosed and treated arthroscopically. The “scope” allows the surgeon to look inside through small key-hole incisions to determine the nature and extent of injuries. Using small incisions, special surgical instruments are inserted for the necessary repairs. Depending on the extent of injury or disease, traditional surgery may be used to repair and install fixation devices. Our sports medicine specialists are providing cutting edge knee care with the most minimally invasive techniques possible.

Specialists

Foot and Ankle

The foot and ankle are complex structures with many moving parts. Injuries or overuse to the feet or ankles are common. Our doctors have specialized training and extensive experience in treating foot and ankle conditions conservatively and surgically.

Bone Health Clinic

Bone Health has become an important topic in orthopedics over the past several years. Osteoporosis (or "soft bones") is silent disease that can significantly impact one's quality of life and function. Soft bones are more likely to break and one fracture increases one's risk for future fractures. In an effort to proactively treat these types of breaks, The Orthopaedic Clinic has established a Bone Health Clinic designed to test bone mineral density and blood mineral levels and offer treatment options based on these tests.
